The new international airport for Dakar, Senegal opened in 2017. Located 45 kilometers east of the city, the new airport is intended to be the anchor of a large new urban development and the centerpiece of the country’s “Emerging Senegal” vision. By 2018, the airport had about 30 nonstop flights per day – almost all international given the small size of Senegal – to destinations across West Africa and as far away as Dubai and Washington, DC.
